When we met with Indian Designer Bibhu Mohapatra in Paris, what stuck with us the most was his humble character which he says he owes to his parents. Bibhu grew up in the Indian state of Odissa where becoming a fashion designer seemed like a far off dream. But with his parent’s encouragement and a hearty dose of Indian family values, Bibhu went on to study in New York and has since become one of the world’s most recognized Indian designers. Despite attending fancy affairs and dressing famous women, Bibhu has remain steadfast in his roots, never forgetting the Indian family values his parents instilled in him at a young age. “I need to have my core with me,” says Bibhu. “I owe it all to them.”
