CAN ACUPUNCTURE HELP YOU GET PREGNANT?
Trying to get pregnant? After trying out different options, registered traditional Chinese medicine practitioner Moninder Chana suggests giving acupuncture a go.
Q & A WITH MONINDER CHANA
What is Accupuncture: Acupuncture is an ancient traditional Chinese practice to balance the flow of energy by unblocking meridians (channels) in the body and stimulating its natural healing processes.
How does it help someone trying to conceive? Acupuncture can help promote blood flow to the ovaries and uterine lining when you’re wanting to have a baby. If you’re going through IVF it also improves your response to hormonal stimulation, alleviates side effects and calms the uterus to prepare for implantation. It also reduces stress and anxiety.
Do the needles hurt? There’s minimal pain when the needle is inserted. A lot of people say it’s a relaxing experience.
How can a woman prepare to conceive? Eat more nutritious foods, regular exercise, decrease exposure to toxins and take a good prenatal.
How long should you be trying for? After six to 12 months of actively trying, speak to your medical professional about hormonal blood testing for further investigation.
Why are there seemingly so many more women having trouble getting pregnant? Some factors include our environment, poor lifestyle choices and couples waiting later in life to start expanding their family. Plus there’s male infertility too.
