Paris may seem overdone to many. But there’s so much more to see beyond the iconic Eiffel Tower. Sydney-based Tanisha has travelled all over Europe, but she says this hub of food, culture, art and fashion is one place everyone should see atleast once.

Montmatre: Head high above the city to the 18th arrondissement discovering Montmartre. Majestic Sacré-Cœur Basilica towers over the Clignancourt flea market. Once dismissed as being a sketchy area, the hill is now home to artists, writers and philosophers. The cafes and restaurants reflect Montmartre’s bohemian aesthetic.
Musée de la Vie Romantique: Housed in an early 19th century building, this museum is dedicated to life in the Romantic period. The tree lined courtyard cafe and secret garden provide a calming respite from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Jardin du Luxembourg: Pick up picnic supplies, then head to the Jardin du Luxembourg dating back to 1612 by Marie de’ Medici. The park is one of the most beautiful places in Paris to spend the afternoon.
Rue Saint-Honoré: Rue Saint-Honoré was frequented by Marie Antoinette who visited the street to acquire precious ointments. Today it’s home to luxury fashion houses like Prada, Dior and Chanel.
Le Marais: Le Marais district is known for its medieval architecture-one of the few areas of the city to escape the 19th century Haussmann architectural overhaul. People watch while enjoying a coffee at one of the district’s many quaint cafes. Visit the Picasso Museum or simply stroll around the streets admiring the architecture.
Château de Versailles: Versailles is best visited from Tuesday to Sunday. Get there early in the morning so you have ample time to explore the Palace. Don’t miss walking through the manicured French gardens.
